In his debut participation, Oscar Polli won the fourth edition of the Sonangol Africa Eco Race, the African marathon following the original Dakar route, inspired by the spirit of the Rally invented by Thierry Sabine.
Riding his KTM 690, Oscar Polli emerged victorious over the French riders Norbert Dubois and Xavier Moureau after twelve challenging stages (one canceled due to a sandstorm). These stages were simultaneously traced on a particularly stunning route by René Metge. Starting from Saint Cyprien, France, on December 26th last year, the Africa Eco Race concluded on January 8th after traversing France, Spain, Morocco, Mauritania, and Senegal, finishing the final Special along the shores of the legendary Lac Rose.
The Africa Eco Race is the first rally committed to a strongly eco-responsible attitude, aiming to minimize environmental impact, emissions, while contributing to education and social action in the countries it crosses.
